My life as a Spirit worker was a natural consequence of growing up in my family. Where other children were influenced perhaps by the farming their family did, or the businesses they owned, I was taught early that life was a continuum, that death meant the body died but not the Spirit. I grew up in a rural setting with a family who used their intuitions and healing abilities as a normal part of life. My Dad knew Spirits were a natural part of life and sometimes would mention experiences with them. I learned to regard this as nothing extraordinary but rather a natural part of life.

I remember one story my Dad shared when, as a teenager staying overnight with a farm crew in an abandoned farmhouse, he overheard men in Spirit speaking in German but could not understand what they were saying. The following day while in town, he recruited a German speaking fella who also had dad’s gift of speaking to spirits and invited him out to the farmhouse to interpret their conversation. That evening they sat together while the fella translated what the spirits were saying. Turns out they were simply playing cards! Stories such as these were common and I came to regard them as quite normal.

As a professional artist I primarily paint horses in landscapes. I feel a deep affinity for these wonderful creatures and have experienced firsthand the healing power of their generous hearts. At a particular point in time I was deeply concerned about someone I loved. On my way to Palm Springs I spotted a corral with a few horses and instinctively pulled over to just watch them. An older white horse walked across the sandy lot toward me. I felt its Spirit recognize me as a friend as she inquired mentally Why so sad? As it stood in front of me with its big heart, I began to get the message I need not be concerned, that all would work out, advising me not to worry so much. I painted the horse to capture that moment. Each time I do a portrait of their majestic forms, I feel my paintings carry the healing too.

Over the years I have been invited into hundreds of people’s lives to help them communicate with the unseen and voiceless Spirits of life. Each time I connect using my gift I am deeply humbled and grateful for the healing that occurs. The need to be understood and heard is our greatest common desire and it seems to continue to be important even after we die. To not offer my services openly to a wider audience seemed shortsighted, even selfish, on my part.

I believe we each have a calling and I feel deeply blessed with my ability to communicate as I do with Spirits. I have come to know that all we see is not everything; that there is so much more to life. This world I am privileged to visit is extremely beautiful to me.
